PRESIDENT TSAI OBSERVES MILITARY EXERCISES|澎湖漢光演習實兵操演 蔡總統親校閱

The 33rd Han Kuang military exercises continued in Penghu in the morning of May 24, with landing and anti-landing warfare drills. Elite forces from all three branches of the military participated in the drills, and President Tsai Ing-wen observed the exercises as commander-in-chief of the military. Tsai emphasized that she will continue to promote domestic manufacture of weapons and the development of the defense industry, to strengthen Taiwan's defensive capabilities. Marines in rafts made an amphibious assault on a beach under enemy fire. The marines then attacked onshore enemies with the LVT-H6 amphibious landing vehicle. Finally, the AAV7 amphibious landing vehicle carried marines on shore to push forward with the assault. The Cardinal unmanned aerial vehicle was also dispatched to scout the battlefield, and the domestically built Tuo Chiang corvette launched missiles in support. This is the Tuo Chiang's first appearance in a Han Kuang exercise. In addition to firepower from Apache helicopters, the exercise also included F-16 fighter planes and the IDF Ching-kuo. Taiwan's domestically developed Thunderbolt-2000 multiple launcher rocket system also attacked enemy targets attempting to make a landing.
