FAMILY SCHOOL MAKE DROPOUTS DREAM COME TRUE|屏首創家園.學園結合 中輟生夢想續航

When students drop out of school, it can be very often due to family reasons that are beyond their control, and it is important that we help them get back to classroom. In Pingtung, the local government has come up with a plan to do just this. Let's take a look. The teacher is teaching the students Chinese cooking techniques. These talented students have got their certificate of Level C technician in Chinese culinary before graduating from junior high school. However, they used to be school dropouts. ==YEH, student== It is an interesting thing to watch my mother cooking. I enjoy cooking, so the teacher advised me to take the Chinese culinary skill test. Yeh is from a dysfunctional family. He was not good at studying. However, through the help of the school and social workers, he got the certificate for Chinese culinary and smoothly entered high school. Another student, Hsu, passed the skill tests for both Chinese culinary and automotive mechanic. ==HSU, student== I am not good at studying. I hope by learning more techniques, I can create a better future for myself. "Family school" is a half-way school set up by the Pingtung county government. The school provides elementary and junior high school dropouts with alternative curricula and living care services. It also cooperated with a nearby vocational school to teach students practical skills. The county government's innovative ideas enable students to find their career paths early in junior high school. ==LO WEN-HSIN, Dean of GWG Social Charity Foundation== The students' family of origin didn't provide them a good learning environment. They lacked support of continuous learning. They fell into temptations from the outside world easily. Therefore, we provided them an environment to focus on their own learning. Most importantly, we hope they can regard "Family" as their home. The students take lessons during the day, and receive living care services after finishing school. A lot of school dropouts has found future possibilities in their lives.The Pingtung county government's plan drew other local governments' attention as well. It is hoped that more school dropouts can receive better care. TRANSLATED BY：ARIEL HSIEH 由在地請來的中餐師資，正在教導學生烹飪技術，但這幾個大男孩，其實今年剛國中畢業，卻已經通過中餐丙級檢定，能力跟高職畢業生一樣，而且他們原本是中輟生。 ==葉姓學生== 在家裡看媽媽煮菜就很有趣 自己煮也覺得很好玩 就老師推薦(參加檢定) 因為家庭失能，葉同學原本在學校的學習並不理想，透過學校和社工的安排，到屏東的中途之家''飛夢林學園''上學，現在不只拿到證照，還考上國立高雄餐旅大學附屬高中，學園裡今年的國中畢業生，有好多人都和他一樣，畢業前已經拿到證照，另一名徐同學，更是中餐和汽修兩個項目都通過檢定。 ==徐姓學生== 因為我也不太會讀書啊 所以學習一些技能 來幫助自己的未來 找到更好的出路 國中畢竟就通過技職檢定，是飛夢林學園全國首創的教學課程，由附近的職業學校日新工商提供場地，讓原本中輟的孩子，提早在國中就找到未來方向，以及就業的基礎。不過要達到這項目標，不光是學園的功勞，還有另一項屏東縣政府的創新，這是把中輟生的安置輔導，結合了家園與學園兩種功能。 ==慈慧恩基金會院長 羅汶欣== 孩子可能原生家庭環境 都沒有那麼好 所以在環境的穩定度上面不夠 支持也不夠 孩子很容易讓外界的誘惑拉去 所以我們讓孩子能夠專心地 當然最重要是孩子要認同家園 白天上課，晚上再由家園繼續輔導與支持，讓這些不只中輟，有的還已經沒有原生家庭的孩子，重新找到人生的可能。創新作法，目前也吸引很多縣市來觀摩學習，希望台灣有更多中輟生，受到更好的照顧。 記者 王介村 孟昭權 屏東報導
