The labor union for China Airlines staged a protest at the Kaohsiung International Airport for oppressing its employees. An employee recently reported on the airport's dirty environment for causing skin allergies in China Airline's internal network, but surprisingly, was subsequently punished by China Airlines, causing this protest.

There is grime visible on the walls inside the jet bridge in Kaohsiung International Airport, the air conditioning looks quite worn as well. Back in May, there have been cases where employees suffered from swollen redness on their arms due to suspected mold in the air, or from the dirty environment. An employee reported the issue on the airline company's internal website.

However, the employee was talked to by the management staff twice and was subsequently punished. The employee has joined the labor union in protesting the company's oppressive tactic.

The company claimed that as a whistleblower, my claims were untrue and that my actions affected the morale of my colleagues and the unity within the company. They also said that I have caused further misunderstanding within the company.

There have been cases in the past where employees were bitten by fleas in the airport. Most employees believe that betterment of the situation requires reporting the issue to the airport company, and they don't understand why the employee (who reported the issue) must be punished for raising the issue internally. The labor union has criticized China Airline for resorting to oppressive tactics.

The issue was reported to the airport company via internal channels. And the terminal quickly rectified the issue. Isn't this a good way to solve things?

I don't think it is right to (punish the person who reported the issue). Since we at the airport tend to be positive towards this issue, the reporting will not cause any problems to us.

The Kaohsiung International Airport have accepted the labor union's statement and said they will pass it on to China Airlines. The airport also said that they are currently improving the issues reported by the airline's employee.
