Do you like playing with your phone? Beware, the results of the first ever eyesight experiment with mice, have shown that, a daily blue light exposure of 10 hours or more will bring severe damage to the cornea and other complications. Many heavy users of consumer electronics, including computers and mobile phones, often suffer from dry eye syndrome caused by prolonged exposure to blue light. I often use my mobile phone to type reports. And I'm on my computer more than 2 hours a day. Because I suffer from dry eye syndrome, the prolonged usage often makes it pretty uncomfortable. Researches have shown that 30 minutes of continuous mobile phone usage is enough to cause dry eye syndrome. In experiments with mice, the results have shown that daily blue light exposure of 12 hours for seven days will cause damage to the mice' cornea. The results suggested that humans' cornea will suffer damage after 2 years of daily 10-hour exposure to blue light. The experiment also shows that prolonged blue light exposure will lead to precancerous lesion in multiple organs. (Prolonged blue light exposure) will lead to a state of oxidative stress, during which the human body produces massive amounts of free radicals which, in turn, attacks the cells in our system. The scholars said that precancerous lesion is not the same as cancer. There is no way to verify blue light's damages on the human body as human trials cannot be performed, but from this experiment, blue light's damage to eyesight is unquestionable.
