Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xioabo, who is still serving an 11 year sentence in China, has been confirmed to be in the final stage of cancer. He has applied for treatment outside the prison and is currently being treated in Shenyang's China Medical University, but his wife Liu Xia told reporters in tears that his condition was no longer treatable.
Liu Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner, awarded for "his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China", is still serving an 11 year sentence for 'inciting subversion of state power'. In June he was released from prison for medical treatment for terminal liver cancer.

His relatives told us and now relatives are allowed to go there to see him. About ten days ago they went to see him. They said his condition was stable, just that piece of information.
Liu is 61 this year, a Chinese dissident. He was accused of planning the protests which culminated in the June 4 Tian An Men massacre. In 2008 he drafted a 'Charter 08', advocating the abolition of the one-party power monopoly system, and the following year was charged with 'inciting subversion of state power' and sentenced to 11 years in Jinzhou prison, in Liaoning. In 2010 Liu won the Nobel Peace Prize, but as he was in prison could not attend. The Chinese authorities banned his relatives from taking the prize in his place and even criticized the Nobel Prize Committee, as challenging China's judicial system and interfering in internal affairs. Liu's wife Liu Xia, was put under house arrest in Beijing.

I never thought because he won a prize, I can't go out of doors, this is really too ridiculous.
Liu was the first Chinese person to receive a peace prize and is also the only one who could not even have a representative to accept the award. At the time, the podium the Nobel Committee specially prepared a symbolic empty chair for Liu and the international community has never stopped calling on China to release him.
