A live broadcast on Facebook of a Thai man killing his daughter and then committing suicide was only taken down after circulating for 24 hours and getting more than 300 thousand views. The incident, which followed a similar one in the Untied States just less than 10 days ago, once again exposed the difficulties of managing live content on social media.
Thai police rushed to the murder scene, but it was too late. A young 21-year old father suspected his wife cheated on him. The man brought his 11-month old daughter to an abandoned building in Phuket. The man lifestreamed two videos of him killing his baby daughter before committing suicide. The videos quickly had over 360,000 views, and videos were not deleted by the Facebook until 24 hours later. Another murder incident happened on April 16, a man in Cleveland, Ohio used Facebook and live broadcasted his shooting to an elderly person.

We have a lot of work and we will keep doing all we can to prevent tragedies like this from happening.
Within ten days, two murder cases were broadcasted live via Facebook. It was said that several animal abuse incidents were also broadcasted live. A researcher pointed out, Facebook only serves as a platform for live broadcasting and will not be held liable.

Legally speaking and in terms of business practices, they (Facebook) are immune from being responsible, or being held responsible for content because they don't put up the content, they provide a broadcast network for us to put up our content.
Facebook said, it is to assign more staff for a more prompt monitoring on live broadcasts. The company is considering to use robot or software to detect improper broadcasting. But how to distinguish improper contents between realism or acting? It remains a big question to solve.
