CIPAS TO HOLD PREPARATORY HEARING OF BCC AND CPC SELLING|查黨產 中廣.中影案今開預備聽證會

The Taipei High Administrative Court has ruled that the Ill-gotten Party Asset Settlement Committee's order to freeze KMT assets will be suspended on the grounds that this administrative injunction lacks clarity and definiteness. The committee appealed the ruling but was dismissed by the Supreme Administrative Court on Dec 15. Today, a preparatory hearing will be held to discuss two other companies, Broadcasting Corporation of China and Central Pictures Corporation. The committee believes that the KMT sold these two companies and obtained a total of $7.6 billion NTD through capital reduction. The Committee is now looking to recover these funds. The Ill-gotten Party Asset Committee will hold a preparatory hearing on Friday to examine the KMT's business dealings. According to the Committee, the KMT sold off Hwa Hsia Investment Co., the parent company of Broadcasting Corporation of China, Central Pictures Corporation, and China Television, to KMT-owned Guang Hua and Central Investment Companies for NT$3.82 billion and obtained NT$7.6 billion in cash through capital reductions, including the NT$800 million received for selling Broadcasting Corporation of China to media personality Jaw Shaw-kong. ==SHIH CHIN-FANG, CIPAS spokesperson== They sold the company for NT$800 million. Then, by way of capital reductions, creditor's rights of Guang Hua were transferred to Hsinyutai Co and then returned to the KMT. Shi Chin-fang said the meeting is intended to find out if these two companies are KMT affiliate organizations, and if improper dealings were involved. However, the KMT said that the Committee is just relitigating an old case. ==CHIU DA-CHAN, KMT Admin and Mgmt Com. Dir.== This is an old case. The National Property Administration has filed a lawsuit, and the court has determined that no illegal dealings were involved. The transfer of assets was legal, but now they want to relitigate it. Chiu Da-chan criticized the CIPAS for not deferring to the court ruling. The KMT said that they will ask to call former KMT chair Lee Teng-hui and former treasurer Liu Tai-ying to testify and that the Committee cannot cherry-pick the cases they choose to investigate.
