XI: CHINA AND US AT CRITICAL JUNCTURE|末代歐習會 習近平:中美處於關鍵時刻

More on the APEC summit in Peru. Early yesterday morning, US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping met for the last time before Obama leaves office. Xi said that the transition of Power in the United States coincides with a very critical period for Sino-US relations and expressed hopes that the two countries can continue to work together. Meanwhile, Obama reiterated that America and China share one of the most important relationships in the world. Taiwan, however, was not mentioned by either of them. In the APEC bilateral meeting, the US President Barack Obama and the Chinese President Xi Jinping met for the last time. Xi said, the US power transition will be a critical period for the Sino-US relations, and the two nations to continue stable collaborations. President Obama had emphasized the Sino-US relationship is the most consequential and productive in the world. The meeting was open to the press, but the two did not mention about Taiwan. ==BARACK OBAMA, US President== And the frequency of our engagement has enabled us to advance cooperation on shared challenges. To preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, to ending the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Regarding the South China Sea sovereignty disputes, Obama urges all claimants to have a candid conversation. For businesses, the US and China should create a more level playing field for businesses to compete, innovation policies and human rights. Obama further stressed that he and President Xi are united in strong opposition to North Korea Kim Jong-un's provocations. President Obama and President Xi had met nine times in the past three and half years. However, the President-elect Trump has accused China of 'influencing climate changes and manipulating trade policies. The Sino-US relations are yet certain until Trump takes over the power. TRANSLATED BY：ANTHONY LIN 亞太經合會雙邊會談上，即將卸任的美國總統歐巴馬，跟中國國家主席習近平，進行最後一次會談。習近平表示，在美國政權轉移時期，中美關係也正處於關鍵時期。習近平對歐巴馬表示，希望中、美兩國能持續合作，消弭歧見。歐巴馬則強調，美中關係是世上最重要的關係，雙方合作可以創造許多可能。雙方開放媒體採訪的談話，沒有提到台灣。 ==美國總統 歐巴馬== 過去我們曾經合作 處理過許多挑戰 像是阻止核武擴散 終結西非伊波拉疫情等 對於近來造成中美僵局的南海主權問題，歐巴馬表示希望雙方能有坦誠的對話，並期許兩國在企業、創意、人權等方面有更多發展空間。中美對朝鮮半島局勢看法則比較接近，都希望遏止北韓領導人金正恩的軍事挑釁。歐巴馬8年任期，一共跟習近平會談過9次。不過川普在競選期間，多次發表對中國不友善言論，他批判中國製造氣候變遷問題，操弄貿易規則。為未來中美關係埋下不確定的變數。 記者 陳秋玫 報導
