Tsai Meets With Tuvaluan Parliament Delegation 接見吐瓦魯國會議長訪團 蔡:感謝對台支持

President Tsai Ing-wen met with a Tuvaluan delegation headed by Tuvaluan Parliament Speaker Samuelo Teo on Jan. 9.

Tsai Ing-wen, ROC President: “Both Tuvalu and Speaker Teo have shown their commitment to and support Taiwan through concrete action. Last year, we saw them speak up for Taiwan at the United Nations, World Health Assembly, and other international gatherings.”

Samuelo Teo, Tuvaluan Parliament Speaker: “Therefore, Tuvalu continues to support and advocate Taiwan's importance as an observer in the UN, WHO, UNFCCC, and ICAO.”

Tsai met with a delegation from Paraguay later in the day. A cross-committee delegation from the German parliament has also arrived in Taiwan, the first to visit Taiwan in 2023, and will meet with Tsai. Another German parliament delegation visited Taiwan last October. 

總統蔡英文表示：「長期以來戴伊歐議長跟吐瓦魯政府，都用行動表達對台灣堅定的支持，在去年我們也看到，不論是在聯合國大會或是世界衛生大會等國際場域，吐瓦魯都為台灣發聲。」

吐瓦魯國會議長戴伊歐說：「吐瓦魯將持續支持並提倡台灣以觀察員身分參與聯合國、世界衛生組織、聯合國氣候變化綱要公約和國際民航組織等。」

蔡總統稍後也接見巴拉圭議長羅培斯等人的訪團，此外，德國國會「自民黨國防、外交與人權委員會高階國會議員團」也抵台訪問，是本年第一個德國訪團，也是繼去年10月德國國會友台小組與人權委員會訪團後，近四個月內的第三個德國國會官式訪團來台，也將晉見蔡總統。
