Legislative By-election Will Be Held on Jan. 8 北市立委補選倒數 明選前之夜造勢拚場

The DPP's candidate for the Taipei City legislative by-election, Enoch Wu, says former DPP Chair Cho Jung-tai will attend his election-eve event. KMT Chair Eric Chu, former President Ma Ying-jeou and Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an will be at KMT candidate Wang Hung-wei's election-eve rally.

While canvassing during the last few days before the Taipei City legislative by-election, the DPP's Enoch Wu said voters should decide if his opponent, the KMT's Wang Hung-wei, should give back her election subsidy from the recent Taipei City Council election.

Enoch Wu, Taipei City Legislative By-election Candidate (DPP): “My opponent won her seat and is enjoying all the perks that go with it, from the seat itself to the subsidy. So, does everyone think this is appropriate? As for my opponent and how she plans to use her election subsidy, that is of course her business and I won't try to interfere.”

Wu also said Wang's prior optimism that she would win the election has disappeared. In other news, Wang is calling on voters to exercise their right to vote. She also responded to the Ministry of Finance's claim that the government would have to raise NT$15 billion in debt in order to give NT$6,000 cash to every citizen despite the amount coming from a tax surplus. The opposition has blasted the ministry for its scare tactics, while Wang called on the government to explain where the NT$1.1 trillion tax surplus collected over the past six years went.

Wang Hung-wei, Taipei City Legislative By-election Candidate (KMT): “The government is running around trying to slash the cash payment in any way it can and then claimed it had to raise debt to finance the payments. When I become a legislator, I will push for tax refunds and launch an investigation into where the NT$1.1 trillion went.”

The election will be held on the 8th. KMT Chair Eric Chu, former President Ma Ying-jeou and Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an will all be attending Wang's election eve rally, while Wu says former DPP Chair Cho Jung-tai will be at the Paper Windmill performance at Expo Park on the 7th.

北市立委補選最後衝刺，民進黨吳怡農抓緊時間掃街拜票，被問及國民黨王鴻薇選上台北市議員就職後，隨即參選立委，是否應該退回選舉補助款？吳怡農表示，請選民定奪。

民進黨北市立委補選候選人吳怡農表示：「我的對手選上，享受完全的市議員待遇，從就職到補助款，那大家覺得這樣子適不適合？那至於我的對手，自己個人的選舉補助款要怎麼使用，那當然是她的事情，我也不會干涉。」

對手稱「選情不容樂觀」，吳怡農則認為，和先前的信心滿滿會勝選有滿大的變化，上午王鴻薇召開記者會，催票喊話選民出門投票。對於普發現金6000元，財政部官員表示，起碼要舉債150億元。在野黨批評這是恐嚇人民；王鴻薇強調，過去6年稅收超徵1.1兆元，質疑中央財政紀律浮濫花用。

國民黨北市立委補選候選人王鴻薇指出：「現在普發現金的金額七折八扣，最後還告訴你要舉債，王鴻薇進入立法院之後，除了提出還稅於民，我一定會追查1.1兆的超徵金額，到底請問花到哪裡去了？」

立委補選將於8日投票，藍營造勢晚會，將邀請黨主席朱立倫、前總統馬英九、台北市長蔣萬安等人助講。吳怡農則透露，選前之夜會在花博舉辦紙風車劇團表演，民進黨前主席卓榮泰也將現身力挺。
