It is two weeks before the legislative by-election. Both candidates, Enoch Wu and Wang Hung-wei continued charging forward with their campaigns while going back and forth with the issue of gangsters in politics.
Accompanied by DPP Taipei city councilor-elect Yen Jo-fang, DPP legislative by-election candidate Enoch Wu canvassed the streets early in the morning, waving to people going to work. Wu said he found it ironic that his KMT opponent Wang Hung-wei voted for Yeh Lin-chuang for another term in office as Taipei City Council Deputy Speaker after having pressed on the importance of severing ties with gangsters in Taiwanese politics.
Enoch Wu, Legislative By-election Candidate (DPP): “We saw who our opponent voted for; it's actually all open information. We found it pretty ironic since our opponent has been cracking down hard on organized crime since day one of her campaign, for political purposes. In the end, everyone has to be responsible for his or her own words and actions. ”
Another question has been raised recently on whether or not Wu should ask for Vice President William Lai's endorsement for his campaign, to garner more grassroots support from the DPP. Wu said it's still under discussion. Wu also disapproved of KMT Legislator Lin Yi-hua for taking up the post as Taipei City Deputy Mayor next February, saying that she is "worse than being a runaway" for having to leave her legislator position absent for some time as a result.
Also canvassing the streets, KMT legislative by-election candidate Wang Hung-wei is running toward the finish line in full force. She refuted criticism that she was being hypocritical in voting for Yeh Lin-Chuang.
Wang Hung-wei, Taipei City Councilor / Legislative By-election Candidate (KMT): “Councilors from other parties also voted for Yeh. If the DPP caucus, or Enoch Wu's campaign team keeps falsely accusing Yeh of being a gangster, I think that's a major insult to the whole Taipei City Council, an insult to the knowledge and experience of many councilors. ”
Wang criticized back saying that some DPP legislators supported her views on reimbursing taxpayers with overpaid taxes, while Wu stays in an echo chamber with the policies he has proposed so far and it's not going anywhere.
在台北市議員顏若芳等人的陪同下，民進黨候選人吳怡農在街口，和通勤族揮手拜票。對於對手國民黨王鴻薇猛打黑道議題，卻投票給遭到指控涉黑的北市副議長葉林傳，吳怡農覺得很諷刺。
民進黨台北市立委候選人吳怡農表示：「我們也看到對手的投票，其實這些都是公開的資訊，我們當然是覺得滿諷刺的，因為打黑是我們對手第一天開始，不斷地在做選舉的一個操作，那到最後，當然每一個人都要為自己的言行負責。」
選戰倒數兩週，要不要找副總統賴清德來助選，喚回綠營基本盤，吳怡農只說，目前都在協調當中。至於立委林奕華2月才接任台北市副市長，大安區立委因此不用補選，吳怡農也說這比落跑還嚴重。
同樣也選在路口拜票，王鴻薇全力衝刺選情，對於投票給葉林傳，被民進黨批評說一套做一套，她嚴正反駁。
國民黨台北市立委候選人王鴻薇認為：「還有其他他黨的議員，也有投票支持葉林傳，所以現在如果民進黨，或者吳怡農的團隊，一直誣指葉林傳是黑道，我覺得他們真的是在汙辱整個台北市議會很多議員的智慧。」
王鴻薇表示，先前喊出還稅於民的政見，也有民進黨立委支持，反批吳怡農的政見，到目前為止都無法走出同溫層。
