Wang Responds to Criticism of 'Running Away' 被質疑「落跑」 王鴻薇哽咽:不會迴避責任

Opponents of Wang Hung-wei, the KMT's candidate for Taipei's by-election, have repeatedly criticized her for running off to run for legislator right after she was elected as a Taipei City councilor. Wang said that she is under a lot of pressure and she hopes her constituents can understand her situation. She and her DPP candidate also exchanged words over a possible extension of the compulsory military service period.

Wang Hung-wei, the KMT's candidate for the by-election for Taipei's third constituency, has faced repeated attacks by opponents accusing her of running off to run for legislator right after she was elected as a Taipei City councilor. During an interview on Dec. 14, she said she is under a lot of pressure and promised she won't shirk the responsibility she has to her original constituency. Wang also said that she will continue down this road as she made the decision to do so. Meanwhile, the issue of a possible extension of the compulsory military service period has become a hot topic in this by-election. Wang said the administration is manipulating the issue for political gains and shouldn't be pushing the responsibility onto young people. Her opponent, Enoch Wu of the DPP, counterattacked.

Wang Hung-wei, KMT Legislative By-election Candidate: “If there is no way to resolve the current tense cross-strait situation, then the two sides will have to face off. Then they'll say we don't have any soldiers and the compulsory military service period will have to be extended. Isn't this pushing the responsibility onto the shoulders of young people?”

Enoch Wu, DPP Legislative By-election Candidate: “Our KMT friends frequently say that extending the compulsory military service period is box office poison. This time, I said I support moderately extending the service period and comprehensive reforms to the training part of the military service system, and then this became an election consideration and manipulation. You know, legislative candidates have the responsibility to say what needs to be said. I hope Councilor Wang can clearly explain her position.”

Wu has proposed establishing a territorial defense force, but failed to explain where the related budget will come from. When asked about this, he said the starting point should be a discussion of the national defense strategy and the budget will be adjusted accordingly. Wang has said that the decommissioning of the second and third nuclear power plants should be delayed, and expressed doubts that the administration's promise of a nuclear-free homeland by 2025 will be achieved. Wu said the key is the handling of nuclear waste and asked Wang to propose a concrete plan.

Enoch Wu, DPP Legislative By-election Candidate: “I hope she can propose more specific and more feasible plans for the handling of nuclear waste and nuclear energy safety, which are the two basic conditions of nuclear power development.”

The two have also tussled over whether Taipei Songshan Airport should be relocated. Wang said a relocation would affect the medical treatment rights of residents of outlying islands as many hospitals don't have medical aircraft tarmacs. She also pointed out that Transportation and Communications Minister Wang Kwo-tsai said careful consideration is needed. Wu retorted that Wang's words are empty and unconstructive.

參選以來多次被質疑是落跑未遂，國民黨王鴻薇14日上廣播節目，一度哽咽，坦言承受很多壓力，強調不會迴避原本選區的責任，但既然做了決定，會堅持走下去。而這場立委補選。近日圍繞兵役延長議題，王鴻薇指控，兵役延長淪為政治操作，政府不該將責任推給年輕人；民進黨北市立委補選參選人吳怡農隔空回擊。

國民黨北市立委補選參選人王鴻薇指出：「如果是沒有辦法解決現在兩岸緊張情勢，讓兩岸變得兵凶戰危，然後因為說我們兵不夠了，所以我們要延長役期，那麼這是不是把這些責任，推給這些年輕人。」

民進黨北市立委補選參選人吳怡農說：「國民黨的朋友們，經常說兵役延長是票房毒藥，那我這一次提出，我支持兵役制度適度延長，我也支持兵役制度全面改革訓練內容，又變成選舉考量、選舉操作，其實立委候選人有責任講該講的話，我也期待王議員明確的提出她的立場。」

外界則關切吳怡農提出國土防衛部隊的政見，相關預算從哪來？吳怡農回應，從國防戰略開始討論，預算會比照調整。針對王鴻薇再提核二、核三延役，也痛批2025非核家園注定跳票，吳怡農反擊，關鍵在於核廢料處理，要王鴻薇提出具體方案。

民進黨北市立委補選參選人吳怡農表示：「那她對於核廢料的處理、對於核能安全，這兩個核電發展最基本的條件，我也希望她提出更具體更可行的方案。」

雙方也就松山機場遷建持續攻防，王鴻薇強調，遷建會影響離島就醫權，仍有很多醫院沒有醫療停機坪，也搬出交通部長王國材認為需要詳細考慮，吳怡農反酸王鴻薇的回應是口水仗，沒有建設性。
