Police Arrest Man Who Threatened Wang Hung-wei 王鴻薇遭電話恐嚇 犯案男子稱不滿其言論

On Dec. 7, the police arrested a suspect surnamed Tsai who confessed to making the phone call. Wang thanked the police for solving the case so quickly.

The caller threatened to shoot her if she didn't stop talking about organized crime. Wang immediately reported the incident to the police, and they arrested a suspect surnamed Tsai less than 24 hours later.

Lin Yueh-kuan, Deputy Precinct Chief, Xinyi Precinct, Taipei City PD: “The preliminary investigation showed that the suspect surnamed Tsai was unhappy with the statements that Councilor Wang Hung-wei made recently and decided to threaten her. He will be investigated for intimidation, and the case has been transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office to handle.”

Wang Hung-wei, Legislative By-election Candidate (KMT): “I take this case of intimidation very seriously and I won't point any fingers at anyone. I hope everyone would like to have peaceful lives, and we don't need, don't want, and cannot accept these kinds of threats.”

Wang campaigned in Zhongshan District on the morning of Dec. 8. She thanked the police for solving the case so quickly. She said she will no longer respond to meaningless political rhetoric and she hopes this by-election won't cause societal confrontations or violence. Her opponent, Enoch Wu of the DPP, has loudly and repeatedly proclaimed his commitment to a fair and clean election. He held his first policy briefing on Dec. 8, and spoke about relocating Taipei Songshan Airport and building a park on that site.

Enoch Wu, Legislative By-election Candidate (DPP): “Taoyuan International Airport's third runway is scheduled to be operational in 2030, so I think we should plan now to move Taipei Songshan Airport once Taoyuan International Airport's third runway is operational and we should have a policy in place before the 2024 presidential and legislative elections.”

Wu described the airport as the biggest obstacle to the electoral district's development, and said it's an issue that everyone, from mayoral candidates to borough chiefs, is concerned about. He called on Wang to make her viewpoint known.

台北市警察局信義分局副分局長林岳寬表示：「初步調查，蔡嫌是因為他不滿王鴻薇議員日前發表的談話內容，所以心生恐嚇的犯意，全案訊後依恐嚇罪，移送台北地檢署偵辦。」

國民黨台北市立委補選參選人王鴻薇表示：「對於這個恐嚇事件，因為我是很認真對待，我不會把它去指涉任何人，希望整個社會所有的人民都是希望一個安寧的生活，不需要也不希望也不能縱容這樣的威脅跟恐嚇。」

一早到中山區路口拜票的王鴻薇，感謝警方快速破案，王鴻薇也說不會再回應無謂的政治口水，希望這次選舉不要造成社會對立和出現暴戾之氣。至於多次喊話打一場乾淨選舉的民進黨吳怡農，8日舉行首場政策發表會，喊出遷建松山機場蓋公園。

民進黨台北市立委補選參選人吳怡農表示：「預估2030年，桃園機場的第3跑道就會準備好，所以我主張現在就規劃好，一旦桃園機場的第3跑道上線了，我們就把松山機場遷移，在2024年的總統立委大選之前，我們下定這個政策的定案。」

吳怡農強調，松機是影響選區發展最大的障礙，也是從市長參選人到基層里長都關心的議題，並呼籲競爭對手提出相關看法。
