KMT's Wang Hung-wei to Run in Legislative By-election 黨內勸進 王鴻薇接受徵召參加立委補選

DPP's Enoch Wu will contest for the legislative seat left vacant by Taipei Mayor-elect Chiang Wan-an. Wu will face current KMT Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei, who previously said she was not interested in running, and has been criticized as a "run-away councilor." 

KMT Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei was accompanied by KMT Chairperson Eric Chu and Taipei City Mayor-elect Chiang Wan-an as she registered her candidacy for the legislative by-election for Taipei's third constituency. Wang previously said she wasn't interested in running, but Chu and other party heavyweights convinced her to change her mind and accept the party's nomination.

Wang Hung-wei, Taipei City Councilor (KMT): “I was at such a loss before. I would like to apologize to my constituents, and I hope they can forgive me and support me. (But you'll still be serving Taipei residents.) Of course.”

The DPP used the first opportunity to attack Wang, criticizing her for abandoning her position as councilor right after being re-elected and without even starting her new term in order to run for the legislator. In response, the KMT pointed out that Wang will be serving the same constituency while shouldering even more responsibility. Taipei City Councilor Hsu Chiao-hsin was also reportedly a contender for the KMT's nomination, but she said she wasn't interested. During the 2018 elections, she and Wang got into a dispute over a division of responsibilities, but she now fully supports Wang.

Hsu Chiao-hsin, Taipei City Councilor (KMT): “I will fully support her (Wang Hung-wei). I will fully support her whether it's an aerial battle or a terrestrial battle. I hope she'll be elected to serve as the legislator for her original constituency. I think that will be a good thing for residents.”

Hsu declared her support for Wang and said they'll work together to help the KMT win the legislative seat. The DPP selected Enoch Wu as its candidate for the by-election. He has already inspected the new campaign headquarters. The by-election will take place on Jan. 8.

趕在最後一天，國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇由國民黨主席朱立倫以及台北市長當選人蔣萬安陪同，來登記台北市第三選區立委補選，先前王鴻薇一直表達不參選的決心，但在朱立倫等各方勸進下、王鴻薇終於點頭，答應接受徵召。

國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇說道：「之前我為什麼這麼糾結，我一直覺得說，我現在就是已經是非常不好意思的，請我的選民能夠原諒我，能夠諒解我，能夠支持我，（但你會繼續服務台北市民）一定。」

王鴻薇也被綠營批評，才連任議員還沒就職，就落跑選立委。但國民黨強調王鴻薇沒有離開選區問題，只有責任更重。而先前也被點名有望出征的徐巧芯，已經出國表明不參選。過去曾與王鴻薇因2018年議員選戰責任里劃分問題互槓，現在表態全力支持王鴻薇。

國民黨台北市議員徐巧芯表示：「我個人是會全力來支持（王鴻薇），不管是空戰或陸戰的部分，我都會全力支持，希望她能夠順利來當選。在原本選區裡面，去未來擔任立委，我覺得是對市民朋友來說都是一件好事。」

不計前嫌，徐巧芯再表態力挺，要共同努力幫國民黨搶下這席立委。而民進黨推出的吳怡農也正在全力備戰，下午將勘查競選總部設置。這席立委席次將在明年1月8日補選，在九合一選舉不久後、藍綠將再度對決，雙方都有不能輸的壓力。
