DPP Selects Enoch Wu as Taipei By-election Candidate 北市立委補選 綠推吳怡農 藍營還在喬

A by-election will be held on Jan. 8 for the legislative seat vacated by Taipei City Mayor-elect Chiang Wan-an.

Taipei City Mayor-elect Chiang Wan-an resigned as a legislator before the nine-in-one elections, leaving the seat for Taipei's third constituency vacant. A by-election will be held on Jan. 8 to fill the vacancy, and candidates will need to complete the registration process by Dec. 2. The KMT's Central Committee has its sights set on Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei, but Wang has repeatedly said she is not interested.

Wang Hung-wei, Taipei City Councilor (KMT): “I'm honestly telling everyone that right now I'm not interested. I think I would lose face if I go run after previously declaring that I don't want to run. ”

The KMT also considered Taipei City Councilor Hsu Chiao-hsin. She has already said she's not interested as she was just reelected. Legislator Cheng Li-wun has also declined. Legislator Lee Guei-min is also under consideration and former Legislator Lo Shu-lei previously expressed an interest in running. Meanwhile, Taipei City Councilor Wang Hao, who also previously expressed an interest in running, said he's no longer interested. The KMT has questioned the choice of the by-election date, saying it is disadvantageous to those candidates in the nine-in-one elections and there may have been political considerations. The Central Election Commission denied this and accused the KMT of "overthinking."

Lee Chin-yung, Chairperson, Central Election Commission: “They're overthinking this. We already explained why this date was chosen. Did everyone just not listen to our explanation or forget it after hearing it? We have already explained why we chose this date at least over five times.”

Acting DPP Chairperson Chen Chi-mai has selected Forward Alliance Chairperson Enoch Wu as the party's candidate.

Enoch Wu, Chairperson, Forward Alliance: “I feel such a big responsibility to be enlisted to run again. I will do my best to get the support and affirmation of voters. Right now I'm busy preparing the documents to register my candidacy, including the party's recommendation letter.”

DPP Taipei City Councilor Ruan Jhao-syong was hoping to secure his party's nomination for this legislative seat, but posted his support for Wu on Facebook after failing to do so.

台北市長當選人蔣萬安選前辭去立委，留下的台北市第三選區立委懸缺，將在明年1月8日補選，有意參選者最遲要在12月2日完成登記，國民黨內人選難產，黨中央屬意找台北市議員王鴻薇出征，不過王鴻薇連日多次表達並無意願。

國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇表示：「我很誠實地告訴大家，我目前還是不要的，我已經有這樣的一個不參選聲明，然後我現在再去選，我覺得好丟臉。」

目前藍營內部除了王鴻薇外，連任成功的台北市議員徐巧芯深怕被貼上落跑議員標籤，日前已表達沒有意願，而立委鄭麗文也公開婉拒。另外立委李貴敏也被點名，前立委羅淑蕾曾表態有意爭取，然而曾表達意願的台北市議員王浩，坦言「不選了，絕不接受徵召」，為人選布局投下震撼彈。針對藍營質疑北市立委補選日期，不利於這次參選議員的民代疑有政治考量，中選會主委李進勇否認此說法稱想太多。

中選會主委李進勇表示：「欸這個想太多了啦，這個時間的訂定我們也已經說明過了，我們的說明大家都不注意聽，或者聽了你就把它忘掉了，訂在這個日期已經說明過至少5次以上了。」

相較國民黨在北市立委補選人選布局難產，民進黨已重振旗鼓，代理黨主席陳其邁正式徵召壯闊台灣聯盟理事長吳怡農參戰。

壯闊台灣聯盟理事長吳怡農表示：「再次被徵召參選我感到責任非常地重大，我會盡一切的努力來爭取選民的支持還有肯定，現在我正忙著準備登記參選的文件，包括政黨的推薦書。」

先前也想爭取這一席立委席次的民進黨台北市議員阮昭雄，則在臉書表示支持吳怡農參戰，也會協助吳怡農勝選，不讓支持者失望。
