Lu Dismisses Opponent's Claim That She Is Eyeing Presidential Run 打贏選戰.有2022才有2024 盧談話引發聯想

The DPP's Taichung City mayor candidate Tsai Chi-chang is telling everyone his opponent, the KMT's Lu Shiow-yen, has her sights set on the presidency. In response, Lu says her comments about there being no 2024 without 2022 were about an opportunity for change.

During a R.O.C. Military Academy alumni meeting that doubled as a century honors gathering for Whampoa Military Academy on the 20th, Taichung City Mayor Lu Shiow-yen said during her address that she would win the mayoral election because only with 2022 can there be 2024. The following day, Lu said her comment was not about a presidential run but rather the future of Taiwan and the opportunity for change that the upcoming elections present.

Lu Shiow-yen, Taichung City Mayor Candidate (KMT): “Many people are worried about Taiwan's future. If that's you, see 2022 not as a local election but as a chance to change course in 2024.”

Lu's opponent, the DPP's Tsai Chi-chang, however, is telling everyone that Lu has presidential dreams and Taichung residents should therefore vote for him to "let Lu Shiow-yen go pursue her dream." Tsai claimed a vote for him is a vote for democracy and freedom and voters should pick the right candidate because the world is watching.

Tsai Chi-chang, Taichung City Mayor Candidate (DPP): “May she continue pursuing her presidential dreams. On Nov. 26, cast your vote for No. 2, Tsai Chi-chang. The whole world and our democratic partners will be watching, so I hope Taiwan can send the right message. ”

With the elections just days away, candidates are doing everything they can to sway undecided voters.

陸軍軍官學校專科班校友會，與黃埔百年榮譽團結餐會，20日在台中舉辦。尋求連任的國民黨台中市長候選人盧秀燕受邀到場，致詞時表示一定會打贏這場選戰，並說有2022才有2024，引發外界聯想是否兩年後總統大選不缺席。盧秀燕21日上午澄清，她是對台灣的前途非常憂心，現在選對人，將來才有改變的機會。

國民黨台中市長候選人盧秀燕表示：「現在很多國人，對於台灣的前途非常的擔心。也因此我們鼓勵民眾，不要小看2022只是一個地方選舉，2022選對人、走對的路，2024才有改變的機會。」

主要競爭對手民進黨台中市長候選人蔡其昌則批評，盧秀燕有總統夢，大家都會樂觀其成，台中市民應該集中選票投給蔡其昌，放手讓盧秀燕專心去追夢。而國際上也都在觀望，台灣這次地方大選，是否會選擇自由民主的一方，大選結果等同向世界釋放訊息。

民進黨台中市長候選人蔡其昌說：「祝福她繼續去追求她的總統夢，那11月26號台中市長的票，就請投2號蔡其昌。我想全世界、我們的民主夥伴，都高度關注台灣這場選舉，所以我們當然希望台灣可以表達正確的訊息。」

台中選情緊繃，選前最後一週，藍綠陣營一言一行都被嚴格檢視。雙方隔空交火的次數與頻率，恐怕只會多不會少。
