As China continues its military harassment, President Tsai Ing-wen personally visited the Hualien airbase and missile base to encourage our soldiers to continue to protect the safety of the nation.
The Army changed its past training in immobile shooting ranges to simulate real battlegrounds, allowing the soldiers to be closer to the actual fighting environment and atmosphere. They not only use oil drums as cover, and wooden planks and sandbags positioned as a battlefield, but also drill all kinds of shooting positions, such as standing, kneeling, and lying, which is way more effective than previous stationary positions. Sometimes dummy rounds are used to let shooters rehearse excluding malfunctions; in addition, this kind of training arena may help to drill rescue of the injured to enhance simulation realness.
Chu Ke-yen, Battalion Commander, Huadong Defense Command: “There may be enemy movement or changing shooting positions, so we are starting actual combat training this year to simulate the environment of a real battlefield. Using new obstacles and covers unlike previous sandbags and switching to different shooting positions to simulate the actual process of combat.”
President Tsai Ing-wen personally visited the Nanpu Barracks of the Huadong Defense Command to inspect training. As recent Chinese warplanes and warships continue to harass our peripheries, Hualien Airbase warplanes are ready to lift off in alert, and the President will also visit the Hualien airforce base to encourage the soldiers.
Tsai Ing-wen, ROC President: “Last month during the national army's military exercise, the overall alert troops of the 5th Tactical Composite of the Airforce increased by 63 teams, a total of 126 people, while air defense flew 18 batches of 36 planes. ”
The President also visited the navy base located in Hualien Guhai, together with the airforce's anti-aircraft missiles barracks and Missile Force, to personally inspect and thank them for all their hard work and efforts during this time, as well as deliver greetings for a wonderful Mid-Autumn Festival.
用油桶當掩護，以木板跟沙袋當成陣地，陸軍改變過去靶場的單調射擊訓練改以模擬戰場的實戰化射擊訓練，讓士官兵能有更貼近實際戰鬥的環境與氣氛，演練各種射擊姿勢，立姿跪姿臥姿，比以往定點特定姿勢來說更有增加訓練效果。有時也會用假彈讓射手演練故障排除，這樣的訓練場域可演練戰場傷患救護，增加逼真效果。
花防部機步營連長褚克彥表示：「可能會有接敵運動或甚至要變換射擊姿勢，所以我們今年開始推行這個實戰化射擊的訓練，那也藉此去模擬這個戰場的環境利用障礙物，這些掩體不再是以往的沙包沙袋，用各式不同的射擊姿勢去模擬這個戰鬥的過程。」
蔡英文親自到陸軍花防部南埔營區視察訓練，近來中國軍機軍艦在我國四周侵擾，花蓮基地戰機隨時升空警戒，總統也在中午前往空軍花蓮基地慰勉官兵。
總統蔡英文表示：「在上個月中國軍演期間，空軍第５聯隊的整體警戒兵力增加63組126人次，防空應處共執行18批36架次。」
總統也到位於花蓮的海軍固海營區與空軍防空飛彈營的對海對空飛彈部隊視察，感謝他們這段時間的努力，並祝賀中秋佳節快樂。
