Student Threatens to Shoot Up Taipei American School 台北美國學校遭威脅開槍 今緊急停課

Taipei American School canceled classes on Dec. 13 after receiving a threat the previous evening. The threat came from the account of a 15-year-old TAS student. Police believe the student's account was hacked as the login IP address was bounced across several countries.

Armed police officers are standing guard outside Taipei American School. According to reports, a student threatened on social media to shoot up the school on the evening of the 12th. TAS canceled classes on the 13th.

Chiang Hsun-kuei, Deputy Chief, Shilin Precinct: “We raised our alert level and immediately sent officers over to ensure the safety of students and staff.”

TAS reported the threat to the Shilin Precinct. The student whose social media account the threat came from denied making the post when brought in for questioning on the night of the 12th. The student said his account had been hacked and he would sue the hacker for "offenses against computer security."

Based on their findings, police believe the student's account was indeed hacked.

Chiang Hsun-kuei, Deputy Chief, Shilin Precinct: “The account in question appears to have been hacked. The login IP address was bounced across several countries including the U.S., Egypt, and India.”
 

Lin Liang-ching, Division Chief, MOE K-12 Education Administration: “We have been able to establish this kind of close contact with the police and activated relevant assistance protocols to ensure the safety of the campus.”

The Ministry of Education, which has direct jurisdiction over TAS, says there are campus security mechanisms in place and it will work with police to reinforce security around TAS.

 

美國學校大門口一早就派駐警察站崗，而且配戴衝鋒槍嚴陣以待。因為12日晚間驚傳一名校內學生在社群軟體PO文，揚言要在校內開槍。為求謹慎，校方緊急宣布13日停課一天。

士林分局副分局長江勛貴說明:「本分局全面提升警戒，立即編排專責警力守望的勤務，以確保校園師生的安全為首要的工作。」

不僅美國學校向士林分局報案，12日晚間疑似涉案學生表示，自己沒發文，並在家長陪同下前往信義分局三張犁派出所製作筆錄，宣稱自己的社群帳號被盜用，並向盜用帳號網友提告「妨害電腦使用罪」。警方初步調查，發現學生帳號確實遭駭客盜用。

士林分局副分局長江勛貴表示:「該帳號疑似遭駭客盜用，有數個國家的IP登入該帳號，目前我們查到的國外IP，來源大概是在美國、埃及還有印度。」

教育部國教署組長林良慶回應:「和警方能夠建立這樣的一個綿密的關係，啟動相關的一個協助作為，那以維校園安全。」

美國學校隸屬教育部管轄，針對這次槍擊恐嚇案，教育部表示，警政單位與全國各級學校，都有建立維護校園安全的合作機制，這次也會針對該個案，會加強校園維安，維護師生安全。
