On Oct. 31, a huge fight broke out in the Kaohsiung City Council with councilors from both the Kuomintang and Democratic Progressive Party showing off injuries. During the interpellation on the morning of Nov. 1, 10 DPP councilors staged a sit-in on the council floor while broadcasting footage of the brawl on a loop and assigning all blame on the KMT. In response, Deputy Speaker Su Shu-mei of the KMT said there is nothing that can't be discussed and the DPP was the one that refused to accept opinions different than its own.
The morning after an ugly brawl, 10 Kaohsiung City councilors from the Democratic Progressive Party staged a protest on the council floor.
The entire KMT was under orders. They are egregiously deceiving everyone. I am going to start a sit-in.
The councilors wore protest headbands while playing footage of the brawl on a loop and accusing male Kuomintang councilors of assaulting both male and female DPP councilors. They also claimed KMT Councilor Liu Te-lin's injuries came from his own party.
Councilor Liu Ten-lin was injured by Councilor Tseng Chun-chieh during the dispute.
The DPP councilors took turns blasting the KMT while ignoring Deputy Speaker Lu Shu-mei's calls to return to their seats. After Lu blamed the DPP caucus for being unwilling to accept any opinion but its own, a second fight broke out.
Can you please stop with the video? I was injured too. Everyone was injured. I ache all over. Are you forgetting you jumped Councilor Lin Yi-di and grabbed him in a chokehold? Where's that footage? You're picking and choosing what you want to play. (Which of us put a chokehold on who?)
The DPP caucus says society can decide who was to blame by watching the footage.
經過一夜冷靜，民進黨議員對於前一天暴力衝突，火氣難消，決定採靜坐抗議。
民進黨高雄市議員 李柏毅表示：「整個國民黨受到指揮，欺人太甚，我要進行靜坐。」
民進黨10位議員，頭綁"落跑市長、欺人太甚"布條，直接在議事廳坐下，螢幕上不斷播放衝突畫面，控訴國民黨男性議員，對民進黨議員施暴是不分男女，而且國民黨議員劉德林流血受傷，也是同黨議員所為。
民進黨高雄市議員 李喬如表示：「劉德林議員的傷是曾俊傑議員，因為在爭議當中造成的。」
民進黨議員輪番痛批國民黨，主持會議的副議長陸淑美出面提醒，要求議員回座質詢，強調不是國民黨不願協商，而是民進黨不接受，藍綠再度互嗆。
國民黨高雄市副議長 陸淑美 vs.民進黨高雄市議員 李喬如表示：「我也拜託你們不要只擷取畫面，本席也摔倒了，我也受傷了，大家都受傷了，我全身都痛，你還跳到我們林義迪議員的身上去，還把他鎖喉了，你都沒有看到畫面，只播出你要的畫面。（我們誰鎖喉過誰？)」
民進黨持續播放衝突影片，認為衝突事件可交由社會公評，議事廳內藍綠依舊各說各話。
