Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je has revealed he will make a decision on whether to run for the 2020 presidential election by September. According to the latest opinion poll conducted by the Taipei City Government's Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission, Ko's personal administration approval rating has fallen by 8 percent.


It's too difficult for countries to provide for children (aged 0 to 6), they are not wealthy enough.

Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je attended a public kindergarten event on July 25. He spoke with the media about Terry Gou's proposal for the country to pay for the upbringing of children until the age of six, saying it was not feasible. He also said he will make a decision on whether to run in the 2020 presidential election by September. According to the latest opinion poll conducted by the Taipei City Government's Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission, Ko's personal administration approval rating has fallen by 8 percent. In contrast, the approval rating of the city government administration has remained constant. Ko admitted he needs to conduct a self-review.

Only Ko Wen-je's approval rating fell, so this is a clear message that there is dissatisfaction with the mayor as an individual. I will go and conduct a self-review. The rise and fall of the opinion poll result means that people have hope and everyone is uncertain.

Ko also spoke about the Taipei-Yilan railway line and the Railway Bureau's new plan to have the tracks cross through Feitsui Reservoir's catchment area to Yilan's Toucheng Township and its delivery of this plan to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for review. Environmental groups oppose this plan, and Ko said politics need to be pragmatic.

We don't wish to construct a direct rail line linking Taipei and Yilan and then for problems to emerge at Feitsui Reservoir. Let me tell you, I went to Yilan and traveled the nine bends and 18 turns, and I could bear it. But if you don't let me drink water for a day, then I'll be driven mad.

Ko said the results of the environmental impact assessment need to be respected, as he is aware that a little inattention now could negatively affect him in the future especially if he runs for president.

出席準公幼活動，柯文哲一開口就說郭台銘0-6歲國家養政策不可行，幼兒政策郭柯不同調，至於2020大選是否參選，柯文哲表態九月攤牌，但根據北市府研考會民調，柯文哲個人施政滿意度下滑8%，反觀市府團隊施政滿意度持平，柯文哲坦承自己的確需要檢討。

台北市長 柯文哲表示：「只有柯文哲掉下來，所以這相當明顯針對市長個人不滿意，所以我回去再檢討一下。（民調)暴漲暴跌意思就是說，人人有希望個個無把握。」

對2020選舉，柯文哲就是不表明立場，倒是針對北宜直鐵路線，鐵道局決定以穿越翡翠水庫集水區到頭城的新方案送交通部審查，環保人士反對，柯文哲也隔空喊話政治要務實。

台北市長 柯文哲表示：「我們不希望說蓋一個北宜直鐵，結果翡翠水庫出問題，我跟你講我去宜蘭繞九彎十八拐，我可以忍受，可是你給我一天不喝水，我就抓狂了。」

柯文哲強調一切要尊重環評結果，畢竟稍有不慎引發反彈，恐怕間接對2020選舉造成無法彌補的傷害。
