YOSHINOYA SUPPLIER CONFIRMS NATTO FROM JAPAN NUKE AREA|吉野家供應商坦承 醬油包來自日核災區

Fast food chain Yoshinoya's Natto supplier Taicrown confirmed to the Food and Drug Administration that its soy sauce packets are imported from Ibaraki Prefecture, one of the five prefectures devastated by the nuclear disaster in Japan. The FDA immediately launched a special project to conduct inspections on Japanese food products sold in stores and supermarkets all over Taiwan to see if there are other unapproved Japanese food products currently on the market. The inspections are expected to complete within a week, and the result will be announced every day. The government will also enforce stricter border control for food products from Japan. Inspectors arrived at the Japanese supermarket to conduct a random check on labels for food products imported from Japan, especially instant noodles, Natto, and other composite food products. ==WU MING-MEI, Section Head, FDA Northern Center== The label shows that the ingredients and food additives used for this mustard packet are from Saitama Prefecture. On December 12, Taicrown confirmed to the Food and Drug Administration that the place of origin of the soy sauce packet in its imported Natto product is Ibaraki Prefecture. The FDA soon announced the launch of a special inspection project on Japanese food products sold all over Taiwan. The inspection is expected to complete within a week with the inspection result to be announced every day. ==CHIANG YU-MEI, FDA Director General== Any suspicious product spotted will be removed from the shelf as a preventive measure, and we will conduct an investigation according to the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation. The government also soon kicked off stricter border control over Japanese composite food products, which will be inspected batch by batch to ascertain the place of origin. ==CHIU HSIU-YI, FDA Northern Center Director== In terms of border control, we will conduct an inspection on suspicious products from Japan batch by batch. According to the FDA, stores must take preventive measures to remove suspicious products from the shelf within 72 hours and must not sell the products until an investigation is done. Failing to do so will result in a fine of up to NT$3 million. The FDA also ordered another company to recall its products as it also sourced its products from the same supplier as Taicrown.
