After Donald Trump won the US presidential election's electoral college's majority votes but not the popular vote by the general public, he has met with President Obama and those in the congress to discuss the presidential transition. Trump will officially take office on Jan. 20, next year and people have been speculating on his cabinet appointments. Possible candidates named for the positions of State Secretary, Attorney General, and Defense Secretary include, respectively, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Michael Flynn. ==NEWT GINGRICH(July 20, 2016), Former House Speaker== Donald Trump won our party's nomination because he's willing to tell the truth about the things that matter. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has once again found himself in the media spotlight since Donald Trump announced his bid for the presidency. At one point he was considered for the vice president candidate, and now he just might make his political comeback as the new Secretary of State. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been praised for playing a visible role to calm the public in response to the 911 attacks. He's rumored to be a candidate for the Attorney General. While Trump sought to reconcile with Hillary Clinton and even praised her, Giuliani believes that Clinton's email scandal should be investigated to the full extent. ==RUDY GIULIANI, Former New York Mayor== There are legal questions that are more complicated than just saying "Let's forget about it." This has raised concerns that the role of the Justice Department will become more politicized. Retired General Michael Flynn has been named as a possible pick for Secretary of Defense. Flynn believes that the US needs to take a different approach towards the rise of China and Russia. ==MICHAEL FLYNN(June 2015), Former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency== We have to demonstrate strength and leadership against Russia. China is a different issue. China is really more of an economic issue. Trump's campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was believed to be a potential White House spokesperson. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is also on the candidate list for Attorney General. These people have been Trump's loyal supporters through the low points of his campaign; therefore it's little surprise that they may be rewarded with high-level positions in the Trump administration.
