UBER TRIES TO REGULARIZE IT'S LEGAL STATUS IN TAIWAN|Uber爭議大 台總經理:美總部派人尋求解套

In the face of potential license suspension, Uber started a petition, asking the government to amend regulations so as to allow for its operation. On Aug 9, Uber's Taiwan regional manager also spoke to the media about the company's tax evasion problem and its alleged illegality. Meanwhile, Uber's headquarter in the US is to send tax experts to Taiwan, to discuss solutions with the National Taxation Bureau. Last week, Uber petitioned the Executive Yuan, supporting draft regulations on its legal status. UBER's Taiwan regional manager Gu Li-kai was interveiwed on a radio program and asked why he continued to operate UBER without a legal status? ==CLARA CHOU, Interviewer vs. GU LI-KAI, Uber Taiwan Regional Manager== You knew it was illegal when you started it. (It should noted that when we started to promote Uber globally, no country had regulations for online transportation network.) It is a fact that Uber did not pay tax on its earnings. (The government doesn't have the relevant tax laws…) Hey, you can't speak as though you don't know local law. Uber proclaims its annual transportation networking is about ten million times, with operation revenue about 3 billion NTD. After deduction of 25% commission to Uber, 750 million NTD were not taxed. And Uber drivers in Taiwan are all tax-free. ==GU LI-KAI, Uber Taiwan Regional Manager== Next week the National Taxation Bureau called on us and other business, and four major accounting firms to discuss cross-border e-commerce. Regarding this matter, Uber will send professional tax experts to Taiwan and discuss taxation. Gu reveals, there are over ten thousand drivers participated in the network, over half of them are driving less than 10 hours per week. Drivers are mostly part-timers, most of them are males, and some are single mothers who could not work regular hours. 面對經濟部投審會最重可能以撤資處分,UBER上週發起連署向政院喊話希望落實規管方案,總經理顧立楷也跳上第一線接受媒體專訪,主持人追問,為何明知申請內容與營業內容不符還繼續營業? ==主持人 周玉蔻 vs Uber台灣區總經理 顧立楷== 你們剛開始就知道是違法 要用這個方式 應該是說我們在全球推廣的時候 沒有一個國家有一個 所謂網路叫車平台的法規 你們佣金沒有繳稅 這是事實 如果沒有稅法的話 你不能跟外國人 學得這樣油嘴滑舌的 外界質疑,按照Uber宣稱在台一年有1千萬車次營運,營運金約30億,扣除25%傭金後,約有7億5千萬沒有付稅金。而司機沒有勞務報酬單也是逃漏稅。顧立楷表示目前除了有立委推動跨境電商法外,這個月18日美國總部也會派稅務專家,還有四大會計師事務所專家等,來台和台灣稅務單位討論尋求解套方案。 ==Uber台灣區總經理 顧立楷== 下週國稅局正好已經有 邀集我們跟其他業者 還有各大會計事務所 4大會計事務所 都一起開一個跨境電商研究的會議 所以在這一塊來講的話 我們也會有總部的人員 專門的人算是稅務專家 專門來討論這個事情 顧立楷也透露,目前已有上萬名駕駛加入平台,有超過5成駕駛一週載客時數低於10小時,多半兼職,男性較多,但也有單親媽媽沒辦法做上班族的工作,選擇用此方式兼差。 記者 薛宜家 林志堅 台北報導
