The new underground section of the Kaohsiung city train has begun operation, connecting Kaohsiung, Zuoying, and Fengshan station. However, members of the public have found that there is a 10 centimeter difference between the platform and the train's floor, making luggage carrying inconvenient. Also, some of the waiting areas have been criticized for being too small, which may increase the likelihood of accidents when the crowd gets too big.

On the second day of the launch of the new Kaohsiung station, now underground, members of the public, especially those with big suitcases, have to be extra careful when passing through the waiting area.

I feel that this area is too narrow. It feels like there could be a lot of danger (during rush hours).

The waiting areas have been criticized for being too small. Many worry that, during holiday seasons, the high volume of passengers could lead to higher risks. The Railway Reconstruction Bureau said that it is because the construction of the three underground floors, which is aimed to connect the trains to the subway system, is not yet completed. They said that currently, the passengers are barred from staying in the waiting areas.

The U3 floors which connect the train to the subway system is still under construction. In order to prevent the passengers from entering the unfinished area, we have fenced it off.

Some members of the public with large suitcases also found that there is a 10-centimeter difference between the height of the platform and of the train. They have criticized the effectiveness of construction in bridging the gap.

We are in the process of modifying the height of older trains, such as the Tze-Chiang express and the Lu-Kuang express. We are hoping to the height of the trains' floors can all be 115 centimeters. During this transition period, we have put in place six additional staff members that help bridge the gap.

The Railway Reconstruction Bureau and the Taiwan Railways Administration have stressed that a the high volume of passengers on launch day have caused a number of issues, including the unclear indications on the ground, the dust in the underground stations, and the malfunction of some of the entrance doors. They said these problems are being solved one by one.
