A recent dismemberment case that took place downtown Taipei has shocked the island. Since the suspect has been apprehended, the police is now investigating if there are other accomplices involved. The case has also revealed the security issue in the Huashan Creative Park. Local representatives and city councilors have criticized Taipei City government for their lack of attention on the matter. Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je said in response that the management responsibilities will be handed back to the central government once the lease expires.

Taipei City councilor Ying Hsia-wei and a local representative came to the Huashan Creative Park, where the recent dismemberment case took place. They offered flowers in hope to bring peace to the deceased victim. They also criticized Taipei City government for not doing their job, since there have been frequent noise complaints that were never addressed.

We've been communicating with (those who make too much noise at night). They said that they only built some of the shacks in the area, and that the lease is not up yet.

There have been a total of 8 documents between March 22 and May 31. And all there has ever been stated is to persuade the perpetrators to respect others.

The local representative was very angry in saying that the case could have been avoided. He asked the Taipei City government to punish those who are at fault. On the other hand, the city councilor call on the government to install security cameras and lighting equipment and assist local residents in patrolling the area. The local residents hope the temporary shacks and tents could be removed as soon as possible to keep the environment clean.

This area is where the killing took place, and there were it needs to be maintained for now to preserve evidence. We need to wait for the prosecutors to give us permission before we could go ahead and clean up the area.

Our lease for the area will be up by June 30. The area didn't belong to Taipei City in the first place, and we will return it to the central government. However they want to manage the area, they should come up with better ways to do so.

The Taipei City Urban Regeneration Office also said that they will clean up the area as soon as possible and find out who was responsible for the lack of management.
