Despite the violent protest which accompanied the G20 summit, the leaders all seemed satisfied and positive about the communication which had been effected on many topics from Brexit to African economic development. Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel made a point of thanking the Hamburg police force for their hard work maintaining security over the summit. (please dont cut this, as item starts with bite of merkel thanking cops :) tks!.)

Everybody said that working conditions were excellent here and this is what lasts as well and I think we also reached substantial results here.
Climate change was one of the main summit topics and despite the widely-decried US decision to leave the Paris agreement, resolve was strong across the other 19 nations to maintain climate legislation. French President Emmanuel Macron, summed up on trade:
==EMMANUEL MACRON French President==
I would say that nonetheless, I believe that the G20 declaration that we have put together helped us maintain a certain number of compromises and balances and we were, therefore, able to avoid backsliding.
==EMMANUEL MACRON French President==
On the matter of the climate, I think 19 of us restated our commitment and 20 of us noted that the United States has chosen not to remain in the Paris agreement and this is the declaration of all 20 countries.
The UK's Prime Minister was primarily concerned with trade deals, saying that leaders from several G20 members wanted bilateral trade with Britain after it leaves the EU.
==TERESA MAY UK Prime Minister==
This is an important development for the United Kingdom, and I look forward to developing those trade deals as well.
Russia committed to developing closer ties with the EU, while at the same time being clearly told that its invasion of the Crimea and Ukraine was an obstacle to progress.
==JEAN-CLAUDE JUNCKER European Commission President==
The problems which exist between the European Commission and the Russian Federation are well-known.
G20 nations also discussed policy for Africa, a continent which has growing economic clout. Macron summed up, saying public funds should still be spent on education, infrastructure and health, but security matters should be dealt with in cooperation with African leaders.
==EMMANUEL MACRON French President==
We've agreed with the World Bank that when it comes to education, infrastructure, health, there is a role for public funding. It is our responsibility.
Despite security concerns, the G20 seemed successful particularly in its solidarity on climate change.
