On Tuesday, shortly after the deadline had passed, it has been confirmed that no invitation has been issued for Taiwan to attend this year's World Health Assembly. Presidential Office spokesperson Alex Huang called Taiwan's exclusion unreasonable and expressed the country's great regret and dissatisfaction. The Presidential Office also said the WHO exists for the health and well-being of all people in the world and excluding Taiwan may have a negative effect on efforts to prevent disease.
The Presidential Office expressed deep regret and dissatisfaction over the fact that no invitation was issued for Taiwan to attend the upcoming WHA. It also called for the WHO to ensure Taiwan's 23 million people enjoy the same health rights and benefits as others. The office dismissed the statement from China's Taiwan Affairs Office that there will be no WHA without acknowledgment of the 1992 consensus.

We express deep regret and dissatisfaction. We also call on the WHO to ensure Taiwan's 23 million people enjoy the same health rights and benefits as others. (There is no WHA without the 1992 consensus) Such a statement is disappointing and the people of Taiwan will not accept it.
With two weeks remaining until the event opens, however, Taiwan will push for it to the last minute and is leaving for Geneva as scheduled, Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shin-chung said.

During the period of time, we will be preparing for a trip to Geneva. We still keep in contact with civic groups and local representatives in the hopes of being able to speak up for Taiwan on the international stage.
Japan Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga reiterated Japan's support for Taiwan's participation in the WHA and ROC's President Tsai Ing-wen tweeted her gratitude in Japanese for the 11th time. The media quoted American officials as saying that the US has been pushing for Taiwan's participation through the following approaches: existed dialogue channel between US-Taiwan international organizations, offering viewpoints to the WHO from the US Department of Health and Human Services and Department of State, and cooperation with countries which share the same viewpoint to support Taiwan's participation. The Mainland Affairs Council also called on China to stop suppressing Taiwan.
==ELEANOR WANG MOFA==
We are seeking the assistance of our diplomatic allies and friendly countries with similar ideologies to contact the WHO and express our wishes.
==GENG SHUANG China Ministry of Foreign Affairs ==
Only under the one China principle can the two sides of the strait discuss Taiwan's participation in the event. It's a deadlock for Taiwan to seek assistance from foreign countries.
Taiwan will send a delegation to Geneva even if it is not invited. If the delegation is not allowed to enter the conference venue, it will still take the opportunity to hold bilateral or multilateral meetings on the sidelines with delegations of participating countries. The legislature's Foreign and National Defense Committee is also planning on traveling to express its position outside the WHA venue.
