CHINA: DEALING WITH LEE MING-CHE CASE ACCORDING TO THE LAW|國台辦回應李明哲案 宣稱"依法調查"

It has been more than 20 days after former DPP staffer Lee Ming-che's was detained in China by Chinese authorities, and in the past few days, the government has mounted more pressure on China by calling an international conference and passing a condemning resolution at the legislative yuan. China's Taiwan Affairs Office said yesterday that the detention of Lee was based on a suspicion that he engaged in actions harmful to China's national security, and that making waves over the incident will only complicate the situation and put Lee in a more precarious position. The former DPP staff Lee Ming-che has been detained by Chinese authority or over 20 days, his wife Lee Ching-yu was going to Beijing for the rescue. But her Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents was revoked prior to her departure. Some people in Taiwan intentionally and maliciously manipulating this case with cross-strait relations and attack China. Such behaviors only worsen the current cross-strait relations. An Fengshan confirmed that Lee Ming-che's hand-written letter has passed on to the People's Service Association Across Taiwan Strait for delivering to Lee's wife. Lee's wife issued a statement on April 12, she accused this case was created for the sake of performance by the intelligence department in Guangdong Province.
