EXAMINATION YUAN PROPOSES TO LOWER INCOME REPLACEMENT RATE TO 70%|試院版所得替代率 80%分十年減至70%

In the Examination Yuan's version of pension reform, the income replacement rate for public servants would be lowered from 80 percent to 70 percent over a 10 year period for retirees with 35 years of service, while the committee's proposal would lower the rate from 75 to 60 percent over a year of 15 year period for the same group. Examination Yuan President Wu Jin-lin said he would respect the results of the Legislative Yuan review. On Mar. 31, the Examination Yuan reviewed and passed its draft version of reform of public servant pensions. The 18 percent preferential interest saving rate for those that take pension payments monthly, will be abolished over 6 years. Those who take a one-off payment will have a gradually downgraded preferential interest rate to 6 percent. There is a guarantee that the lowest pension will be NT$32,160, the same as the pension reform committee suggestion.
