IGPASC HEARING TO ESTABLISH KMT INVOLVEMENT IN CYC |救國團是不是附隨組織? 今召開聽證會

Today, the Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee will hold a hearing into whether the China Youth Corps, or the CYC is a Kuomintang affiliated organization. However, the CYC said it was given very little time to prepare documents and doubted that the committee would read all the material before the hearing. The CYC said that its activities and organization are subject to no KMT influence and none of its funds were under the control of individual KMT members or the KMT itself. The China Youth Corps is situated in Song Jiang Road and was set up in 1952. It is now over 60 years old and the target of the latest investigation by the Ill-Gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee. On Feb. 24 the committee will hold a hearing to establish whether the CYC is a Kuomintang affiliated organization. Before the hearing, the CYC refuted this. ==CHENG FEI-WEN Dep. CE China Youth Corps== The CYC's activities, meetings and internal regulations have no KMT input or members. Our finances also have no KMT input, nor are they under the control of the KMT. The IGPASC requested the CYC to send all the accounts up to the present day and a list of member names to the committee. This is a large amount of data and the CYC doubt that the IGPASC will even be able to finish looking at it before the hearing and yet were not willing to postpone the hearing. The CYC believes that the IGPASC has already made up its mind that the CYC is affiliated with the KMT and that the hearing is an empty formality. ==SHIH CHIN-FANG IGPASC spokes person== The main point of tomorrow's hearing is whether in the past at some point, the KMT had substantive control of the CYC, whether it was valued by the KMT or a price was given for its leaving the KMT. We will hear evidence on this. The IGPASC pointed out that until 2015 the CYC had funds of 5.3 billion and said that its funds had increased substantially over the course of its history. In addition to clarifying its financial affairs, it also wants to investigate the original funds used to set up the CYC and whether before 1971 finances were first given by the Ministry of Defense to the KMT before being used in the CYC.
