16-year-old accidentally shot by hunging rifle / 花蓮少年胸口遭刺傷 男子坦承獵槍走火　　　　　　　　　　

In recent years, news about unintentional discharge of rifles in indigenous communities has often been reported. On Feb. 4, a 16-year-old, who was originally reported to have been pierced by a steel bar in the chest, was later found to have accidentally been shot by a hunting rifle. And the man who called emergency services and gave the original story, turned out to be the one who opened fire. He is now being charged with attempted murder. On the evening of Feb. 4, there was a stir at Hualien's Kulu tribe. It was said that a 16-year-old was pierced by a steel bar in the chest. When the media arrived at the accident scene, Mr. Kuo's house, to understand what happened, Kuo said that he was absent, and did not know how the teenager injured himself. However, Kuo showed the media the steel bar, implying that it was what caused the accident. ==MR.KUO informant== I was inside the house. I have no idea of what happened. He was sitting here. I did not know he pulled out the steel bar himself. I was working inside. Blood stains were washed out with water at the accident scene. Since the police could not find the steel bar, they became skeptical of Kuo's words, and took him back to the police station for further interrogation. Kuo finally admitted to accidentally discharging the rifle and injuring the 16-year-old during overnight police questioning. ==CHAN HSIAO-YUAN Chief of Hualien's Taichang police station== After the initial investigation, the police found that a sound of the gunshot was heard before the 16-year-old was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Therefore, the police assumed the incident as a shooting case. The victim is a good friend of the suspect, so he tried to shield the suspect from punishment at the beginning. The gun was registered under the name of Kuo's father, rather than Kuo himself. Kuo was thus charged with illegal gun possession and attempted murder. The injured teenager is still receiving treatment at an intensive care unit.
