President Tsai wants continued cross-strait dialogue / 蔡視察金門小三通 促兩岸良性對話　　　　　　　　　　

President Tsai Ing-Wen was accompanied by the Mainland Affairs Council Chairperson Katharine Chang on her recent visit to Kinmen. As dialogue has halted between Taiwan and China, President Tsai stressed that, the 1992 cross-strait talk is a historical fact. She also urged China to start a positive conversation with Taiwan, hoping to learn from the Three Links experience over the past 15 years and continue to promote cross-strait peace. President Tsai Ing-Wen visited Shuitou Pier in Kinmen to observe the implementation of the mini three links, or the opening up of postal, transport, and trade links between Taiwan and China. President Tsai pushed for the mini three links in 2000 when she was MAC Chairperson. It was her first time to return to Shuitou Pier since she became President. As cross-strait communication has been at a standstill, Tsai said she hopes to learn from the mini three links experience and continue to promote cross-strait peace. ==TSAI ING-WEN R.O.C. President== I said in my inauguration speech that we respect the fact that Taiwan and China met in 1992. We also hope that both sides should let bygones be bygones, and start a positive dialogue for the benefit of people on both sides of the strait. As Tsai was leaving Shuitou Pier, groups of Chinese spouses gathered to protest. They demanded that Tsai recognize the 1992 consensus. President Tsai then moved on to visit the troops stationed in Kinmen and presented them with a bonus in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. She also inspected the troops' training sessions. President Tsai hopes her visit to Kinmen can help promote cross-strait talks and boost the morale among service members as the Commander-in-Chief.
