If you're planning to have an end-of-the summer hike or picnic, you better watch out for the wasps and bees. That's because, with the summer coming to a close, stinging insects like yellow jackets, hornets and bees will be out in force just as their life cycle reaches its end. On Saturday, a 69 year old male hiker was stung by wasps in the Nantou Country's mountain area and became unconscious. This man was stung by wasps and he fell unconscious. When the fire service arrived, he regained consciousness, but was too weak to walk. The hill path was difficult to carry a stretcher up, therefore a rescuer carried the man over his shoulders. ==HONG JUNG-CHU Yushan, Nantou County Fire Dept.== As more people gather this creates stress for the wasps who see it as a threat and they will sting. If you need to rest for a few minutes, just observe your surroundings. Fire personnel point out that when the seasons change there is a rise in the number of cases of insect stings. If you see a single wasp flying, you should just walk away quietly.
