TOLL COLLECTORS' COMPENSATION BASED ON YEARS OF SERVICE|收費員依年資家境計算 最高補償金70萬

Yesterday, the Freeway Toll Collectors Self-Help Organization held a meeting. At the meeting, the Executive Yuan's plan for their compensation was explained, and a total of 947 ex-toll collectors will be compensated based on their years of service, job replacement, and family condition. It is estimated that everyone will receive 150,000 to 700,000 nt dollars by next February. Funding will be provided by the Transportation and Labor Ministries as well as Far Eastern Electronic Tolling Company. Former freeway toll collectors have been fighting for their rights in the past two years. For some of them, their children have grown from babies to big kids during this time. After over 130 protests, the Executive Yuan has finally agreed to pay compensation to the former freeway toll collectors. On Aug. 18th, a meeting was held in Taichung to explain how the compensation will be calculated based on the duration of service, and family and employment conditions. ==KUO KUAN-CHUN, Secretary, Former Freeway Toll Collectors Self-Help Org.== The compensation will be calculated based on duration of service and family condition. The maximum is 1.6 times of the basis amount. 183 members who have not been provided proper employment opportunity will receive a total of 60 month's compensation based on a NT$10,000 monthly salary. The Freeway Toll Collectors Self-Help Organization said they have been fighting for proper compensation and job replacement. Now their struggle finally paid off. Those who did not apply for early retirement will also be paid a compensation of 7 month's salary. The Self-Help Organization also said the government's error in decision-making has cost them their jobs. The compensation is estimated to be NT$600 million.
