Forensic investigation finds gasoline containers / 火燒車新發現 車內5容器驗出汽油反應　　　　　　　　　　

The bus fire accident which claimed 26 lives happened a week ago, today is the seventh day ritual, and there will be a memorial ceremony this afternoon. Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office gave a briefing on the latest updates of the investigation. Five plastic containers were collected from the driver's seat, the front door, and the luggage compartment below, and they tested positive for gasoline. Prosecutors said they will look into the evidence to see if this is a factor that worsen the fire. The blackened coach was burned down to its very frames. Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office re-examined the coach and collected several containers for evidence. Results of analysis show these containers tested positive for gasoline. ==WANG I-WEN, Dep. Prosecutor, Taoyuan Dist. Prosecutors Office== Two plastic containers containing liquid were found at the driver's seat. We also collected fire residue at the front door, and three plastic containers in the lower luggage compartment. They all tested positive for gasoline. Prosecutors indicated that they were almost certain gasoline accelerated the fire, but forensic investigators are still trying to find out what set off the fire in the first place. Prosecutors also looked into the tape recording of a phone conversation between a former staff member of the bus operator and a bus technician, allegedly involving illegal assembly of the bus. Four people have been interviewed and cleared of wrongdoing by the prosecutors. ==WANG I-WEN, Dep. Prosecutor, Taoyuan Dist. Prosecutors Office== We're trying to determine if the bus is illegally assembled, and if a hidden lock was added to the door. Preliminary findings have ruled out the individuals we interviewed. Families of victims originally planned to see the burned coach at the police department but canceled the visit. They asked the MOTC to give a statement on their behalf. ==FAN CHIH-KU, Deputy Minister, MOTC== We asked the Association of Travel Agents to communicate with family members. Lawyers will be present as well to offer consultation on compensation. Negotiations are under way. The MOTC said they are still trying to work out matters regarding compensation and cremation. The insurance company is now trying to estimate the amount for compensation. Religious rituals will be held on the morning of 25th, and public memorial service is scheduled in the afternoon.
