T L BIOTECH TAMPERED WITH COLD REMEDY DATES SINCE 2013|"天良"感冒液 涉竄改16萬罐效期被查獲
Another food and drugs related scandal. New Taipei City Department of Health and the Food and Drug Administration searched the TL Biotech Company in Xizhi and found evidence of tampering with the expiration date and batch number on products. Over 160,000 cans of cold remedy liquid stored on the site have been sealed. The company is now being prosecuted for Pharmaceutical Law violations. Initial investigation shows that the company has been tempering with expiration dates on its cold syrups since 2013. Over 920,000 bottles have entered the market. On May 24 staff from the New Taipei City Department of Health and the Food and Drug Administration searched the TL Biotech Company in Xizhi. On the fifth floor they found bottles of cold remedy ready to be sent for retail. Mixed in with these were products, a total of 1,524, that had had the labels changed. After further investigation,160,000 bottles were found and seized, all had had the batch number and expiration date tampered with. ==HSU CHAO-CHENG New Taipei City Department of Health== The expiry date on this product is printed on the outer box where it opens, the manufacturing date is printed, and on the bottle there is not batch number and no date. The products that have been tampered with are not easily detected, as the real product has a batch number and expiry date printed on the outside of the box. On the bottle and other places there are no labels. The instruction leaflet is two sided and has the batch number and expiry date printed on it. The counterfeit medicine has a new label on the bottle, which is badly stuck. The DOH warned members of the public not to continue to take the medicine. ==HSU CHAO-CHENG New Taipei City Department of Health== The manufacturer started to tamper with expiry date labels in 2013, these all entered the market, nearly a million bottles, we haven't yet found where they went. T L Biotech posted an apology on its website and said it would stop selling the product and take back all the products that were in the market. As the company has also violated food and drug legislation, it will be fined NT$1 billion and the case will be sent for prosecution.
