Chou's TV Show Violates News Ethics: Wang 選舉變緋聞戰 王鴻薇向民視.NCC申訴

After Chang Su-chuan filed a lawsuit against media personality Clara Chou for accusing her of having an affair with KMT Taipei mayoral candidate Chiang Wan-an's father Chiang Hsiao-yen, Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei and others also made a fomal complaint to the NCC for Chou's violation of news ethics.

Things got off to a heated start at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. Media personality Clara Chou arrived to apologize to former Miss R.O.C. Chang Shu-chuan, whom she had accused of having an affair with former KMT vice chairperson Chiang Hsiao-yen, but she soon clashed with KMT Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei on spot. Chou and Wang's battlefield extended to television shows. Wang made official complaints to Formosa Television (FTV) and National Communications Commission (NCC) that Chou's TV show clearly lacks self-regulation.

Wang Hung-wei, Legislator (KMT): “What is her violation? Her political talk show on FTV violated news ethics, it contains untruthful and unreliable content that is damaging to public interests. My main argument is that you, as a FTV show host, openly and falsely accused Ms. Chang Shu-chuan of having an affair with Mr. Chiang Hsiao-yen.”

Reporter: “Do you consider this serious bullying by the media? Do you think Clara Chou's behavior needs to be checked? So is NCC turning a blind eye to this situation? ”

Chen Yaw-shyang, NCC Chairperson: “No, we'll investigate this.”

KMT Taipei City Councilor Hsu Chiao-hsin also made a formal complaint to the NCC, saying that Chou's TV show has turned into a big campaign project for DPP Taipei City mayoral candidate Chen Shih-chung. NCC Chairperson Chen Yaw-shyang made very few comments and walked quickly into the city council building instead. Legislator Jang Chyi-lu from the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) disapproved of NCC's attitude.

Jang Chyi-lu, Legislator (TPP): “This is basically a dereliction of duty of the NCC. We need to better monitor and regulate the media; our government needs to take greater responsibility. The NCC needs to be working professionally and not turning into a tool for mass propaganda.”

With heavy criticisms coming from both KMT and TPP, the NCC said they will go through all necessary deliberative consultation meetings before coming to a conclusion. 

 

媒體人周玉蔻：「蹭人家周玉蔻，你要臉嗎你。」

國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇：「蹭什麼周玉蔻啊，不要臉，今天是妳過來的耶。」

媒體人周玉蔻：「今天她提告，我找張淑娟，妳過來幹嘛？」

北檢前火藥味十足，資深媒體人周玉蔻前一日向捲入蔣孝嚴緋聞案的張淑娟道歉，卻也在現場和國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇爆發激烈口角。現在兩人戰場也延伸到電視節目，王鴻薇26日已經向民視及NCC申訴，周玉蔻節目嚴重違反新聞自律。

記者詢問國家通訊傳播委員會主委陳耀祥是否覺得這起事件是媒體殺人、周玉蔻是否有落實查證責任，並提問「所以NCC現在裝睡嗎？」陳耀祥回應：「沒有，我們會去查。」

國民黨台北市議員王鴻薇指出：「民視的談話性政論節目違反什麼呢？違反對製播新聞違反事實查證原則，致損害公共利益。我的主旨就是，你民視的主持人，公開去指涉張淑娟女士跟蔣孝嚴先生滾床單。」

被問到是否覺得媒體殺人、是否認為周玉蔻有落實查證的責任，陳耀祥表示會再調查。台北市議員徐巧芯也向NCC檢舉，指稱周玉蔻節目已經變相成為陳時中宣傳大隊。陳耀祥對此低調不願多談，僅表示會調查後就快步走入議場，民眾黨立委對此也有反彈聲音。

民眾黨立委張其祿批評：「NCC基本上是失職的，所以未來對於整個媒體頻道的監督監理，我們還是必須要有政府拿出擔當，那NCC必須是做事的，而不是自己就變成大內宣的工具。」

藍白陣營齊轟，風波越演越烈，NCC表示將依程序處理，先由廣播電視節目廣告諮詢會審議後，再提到NCC委員會審議，目前無法預估審議結果何時出爐。
