NPA Investigating 420 Cases of Fraud Victims in Cambodia 警政署:台人被騙到柬埔寨 現已受理420案

Regarding the human trafficking problem in Cambodia, the National Police Agency promised to step up its efforts to crack down on the operations and rescue Taiwanese victims.

Huang Ming-chao, Director-General, National Police Agency: “We have arrested 67 people in 20 cases and 22 of them have been detained.”

Chang Tou-hui, Chief Prosecutor, Taiwan High Prosecutors Office: “In accordance with relevant criminal laws and the Human Trafficking Prevention Act, the Aviation Police is interrogating (the victim) that recently arrived back in Taiwan. This is perfectly legal. ”

The agency says 46 people are now back in Taiwan, with 374 more waiting to be rescued. It will also cooperate with the FBI and Thailand to stop human trafficking. Regarding the conflict between Kuomintang lawmakers and aviation police over a teenager returned from Cambodia, prosecutors and police say they have the right of investigation and questioning to help clarify the situation.
