Tsai Refuses to Confirm Pelosi's Visit 裴洛西亞洲行訪台 總統未回應

There are reports that U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will arrive in Taiwan for a visit tonight. She will reportedly stay for one night and meet with President Tsai Ing-wen on the morning of Aug. 3. Tsai declined to confirm the reports.

“Madam President, are you going to meet with (Nancy) Pelosi tomorrow morning? Are you all afraid of China's military threats? Have you ordered the military to make preparations?”President Tsai Ing-wen refused to answer any questions about U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's reported upcoming visit to Taiwan. The latest reports indicate she will arrive on the evening of Aug. 2. There are also concerns about China's response should she visit. Premier Su Tseng-chang said he respects the arrangements made by foreign visitors for their visits to Taiwan.

Su Tseng-chang, Premier: “We warmly welcome the visit of any foreign dignitary, friend, or representative, and we will also make the most suitable arrangements. We will also respect the planning and the timing chosen by the visitors.”

According to foreign media reports, Pelosi will spend the night in Taiwan after arriving, possibly at a five-star hotel in Xinyi District or Zhongshan District. She will reportedly meet with Tsai on the morning of Aug. 3. On Aug. 2, the police were seen making preparations around Songshan International Airport.

Joanne Ou, Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to reemphasize that with regards to this matter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no additional information to share. We also do not have any additional comments.”

People familiar with the matter said there are records showing hotel and related arrangements. The Taipei City Police Department is reportedly sending 200 police officers to maintain order.

 

「總統明天早上要跟裴洛西見面嗎？會擔心中共的軍事威脅嗎？國軍是不是下令強力整備了？」面對提問依舊沒有回應，美國眾議院議長裴洛西，傳出2日晚間就要抵台訪問，各界高度關注，中國更是不斷放話威脅，行政院長蘇貞昌重申尊重訪賓安排。

行政院長蘇貞昌表示：「對任何外國的貴賓，友我的議員大家來訪，我們都非常地歡迎，也都會做最妥善的安排，也對於來訪的時間方式種種，都會尊重訪賓的規劃。」

府院對於裴洛西訪台，態度低調。外媒報導，裴洛西晚間抵台後，將會留宿一晚，可望住信義區與中山區的五星飯店，3日上午與蔡總統見面。2日上午松山機場外圍，警方已在預作準備。

外交部發言人歐江安回應：「外交部我們再一次的強調，我們針對本案，外交部，我們並沒有進一步的訊息可以分享，我們也沒有進一步的評論。」

知情人士透露包括飯店及相關安排都有備案，北市警方也將動員200警力維安。目前裴洛西前往馬來西亞訪問，是否照規劃來台，直到目前一切都還有變數。
