The Taiwanese government has announced a two-week ban on transfer of flights through Taiwan starting today. On the first day of the ban, local airports appeared to be nearly empty, and the engines of the planes on the airfields are all covered up due to an expected, prolonged grounding of the fleets.

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the number of daily flights through the airport has seen a drastic reduction. The company has put on dust covers on the engine intakes of many grounded planes, and there are barely any passengers in the airport.

武漢肺炎疫情全球大流行，為了避免疫情透過空中運輸傳播，自24號起，為期2週，我國全面禁止旅客轉機。但預計還有3985名，24號零時前搭上飛機的轉機旅客，桃園機場也加強清潔消毒。
信實集團主任 徐全興表示：「只要ㄧ發現(隔離衣)，就透過二氧化氯先做消毒的動作，在垃圾桶把它消毒完了之後，我們打包整個就丟到(機場)焚化爐，去做一個焚毀的動作。」
返台旅客表示：「（覺得台灣的防疫政策怎麼樣？) 滿好，滿好。（回來就輕鬆了？) 嗯，台灣防疫最好了，一進來檢疫什麼的，觀念正確呀，對呀，對呀，大家都有保護措施，意識啦！」
根據移民署統計預報，桃園機場24號入境3898人，出境2513人，共6411人，旅客回到台灣感到幸運，除了大讚台灣防疫，讓人很安心，也認為停止轉機政策是對的。
