A special way to boost the industry, elementary school students in Hualien have made invitation cards with marble, which is a local specialty, and invite 100 celebrities to visit Hualien to help boost local tourism.
Welcome to Hualien!
The students glue symbols of Hualien specialties and famous animals onto marble fragments and color the pieces with vibrant hues. These turn out to be the invitation cards made by students from the local Zhongyuan Elementary School. The students are planning to invite a number of celebrities to come to Hualien.
(Who are you inviting?) Karry Wang (Chinese actor/singer) (If he really comes, where would you recommend him to go?) I'd say the Qixingtan Beach.
Ashin. (You're inviting Ashin from Mayday?) Yes. (Why?) Because I like their songs.
The story behind the making of these cards is a rather sorrowful one: Hualien's economy has suffered severe setback after a major earthquake took place in February, and many local families were affected as well. The county government has therefore commissioned the local elementary school students to make these creative invitation cards and try to attract famous people to come to Hualien and help boost local tourism.
The local tourism industry in the last few months has been quite bleak. Many local families are affected, so are the children. Therefore, we are trying to get our students in art classes to shoulder part of the task (in helping local economy) and put their creativity in use.
The Hualien County government said that a total of 100 marble invitation cards were made, and they will be mailed out to 100 public figures. The government hopes that these figures would be willing to come to help Hualien's tourism once they receive the invitations.
