IRANIAN NOBEL LAUREATE WANTS GLOBAL MEMORIAL DAY FOR LIU XIAOBO|伊朗諾貝爾和平獎得主訪台 批中形同謀殺劉曉波

Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi is on a visit to Taiwan. In an interview with local media, she criticized the Chinese government for effectively murdering fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo, by denying him permission to seek medical treatment abroad prior to his death. She called on governments around the world to designate a memorial day for Liu so that he would never be forgotten. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi, who is currently visiting Taiwan, expressed regret over the death of fellow laureate Liu Xiaobo, saying that the Chinese government effectively murdered Liu by denying him permission to seek medical treatment abroad. She called on the Nobel committee and governments around the world to designate a Liu Xiaobo memorial day so that he would never be forgotten. ==SHIRIN EBADI Nobel Peace Prize Laureate== The Chinese government would not allow Liu Xiaobo to seek medical treatment abroad. That, to me, is murder. I hope Taiwan and countries around the world can commemorate Liu Xiaobo so that the name is always alive and never forgotten. As an honorary board member of Reporters without Borders, Ebadi was the keynote speaker at a conference held by the organization on freedom of speech and ethics in journalism. An Iranian lawyer and human rights activist, Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize for her work advocating for the rights of women, children, and refugees. She is the first Muslim woman to receive the award. Ebadi also expressed her support for Taiwan's government to invite the Dalai Lama for a visit to the country.
