TAIWANESE YOUTUBER SUED FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT|"X分鐘看完電影" 片商告網紅谷阿莫侵權

AmoGood , a Taiwanese YouTuber known for his offbeat and sarcastic movie reviews, has found himself in a legal battle after being sued for copyright infringement. AmoGood on Monday defended his videos online, saying that he believes they do not violate the principle of fair use under copyright law while the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office searched his office and began the investigation yesterday. ==AMO GOOD Internet Celebrity== I'm Amo Good, today I want to tell you a story about disappointment… In seven minutes, Amo Good finished talking about the popular Japanese animation film "Your Name." Amo Good usually adds his sarcastic comments over film's plot and this has been his unique style for all his weekly film commentaries. Recently some film companies filed legal action against Amo Good for copyright infringement. Amo Good refuted the accusation. ==AMO GOOD Internet Celebrity== The short series of "Watching a Movie within Whatever Minutes," you can see there are many similar derivative videos over the internet. Some came with effects of commenting over ecological researches, teaching and news reports. I only used 1/10 or 1/100 from original work for commentary. And the most important thing is, I have never charged any fee from my channel viewers. Amo Good insists that his works are derivative works, but film companies accused him of unauthorized editing and public transmission. Lawyer said that Amo Good has violated fair use doctrine, and he is to be held liable for both criminal and civil charges. ==HUANG YA-PING Attorney at Law== If we look at from the simple aspect of behavior, he in fact constitutes to copyright infringement. As to the definition of reproduction as derivative work, even if he only edited and used partial film footage and influenced viewers' willingness to watch the film in cinema, this is indeed an infringement to film copyright. Since 2015, Amo Good had commented over most popular films and TV dramas and he had produced over a hundred commentary videos. Although Amo Good says he follows fair use doctrine, but police searched Amo Good's company and confiscated six videos. Police has filed Amo Good for copyright violation and Taipei District Prosecutors Office is to subpoena Amo Good.
