26 POSITIVE DRUG TESTS AT MILITARY BASE|清泉崗26官兵驗毒陽性 最高層級少校

The drug use uncovered at Taichung's Ching Chuan Gang military base has expanded. The whole base was ordered to take urine drug tests and the Ministry of National Defense confirmed that 26 individuals have tested positive. The highest-ranked was a Major. The Taichung prosecutors office has started investigations, treating it as a serious crime and has obtained CCTV footage to comb through. 51 bags of drugs were found throughout Taichung's Ching Chuan Gang military base in vehicle rooves, along running tracks, dormitories and parking aprons. Prosecutors started investigating and on Feb. 23 after testing 90 urine samples, 26 samples were found positive, up from earlier reports of 20 positive results. Drug equipment was sent to the police for DNA testing yesterday afternoon and will be matched with relevant individuals. To investigate the source of the drugs, on Feb. 23, MND Minister Feng Shih-kuan ordered that throughout the military conscripts with a prior drug tendency or record should be tested for drugs during military training.
