228 MEMORIAL MUSEUM HOLDS EXHIBITION ON TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE|紀念228七十週年 葉菊蘭促落實轉型正義

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the 228 Incident and the 30th anniversary of the 228 Peace Day Movement. On February 19, the Taipei 228 Memorial Museum held a special exhibition on transitional justice. Here's a look. On February 19, Yeh Chu-lan, Senior Advisor to the President, paid homage to 228 Incident victims and got emotional as she talked about her late husband, Cheng Nan-jung. ==YEH CHU-LAN Senior Advisor to the President== (You seemed a bit hesitant when you offered the flowers.) I'm not hesitant. It's just… (Memories surfaced?) No. (You got sentimental, right?) Of course. In addition to a replica of Cheng Nan-jung's old office, the exhibition also showcased historical records and photos as well as banners that protesters used in the democracy movement outside the party. PTS Chairperson Chen Yu-xiu was filled with mixed feelings at the exhibition. ==CHEN YU-XIU PTS Chairperson== I was also a street movement activist. I always stood by him (Lu Hsiu-yi). He basically participated in each year's 228 Redress Movement. His participation allowed him to have empathy for families of the victims. It's important for the deceased to rest in peace but also for the living to have peace of mind. President Tsai Ing-wen stated that the pursuit of transitional justice will continue and vowed to complete a white terror report within three years. Some questioned whether the truth will out after all these years. Many said that the memorial activities have lost focus and urged that the government get to the bottom of the 228 Incident and realize the transitional justice. TRANSLATED BY：LUKE CHIANG 228事件，今年邁入七十周年，恰巧也是民主鬥士鄭南榕，推動二二八和平日運動，三十週年！今天下午，二二八紀念館，特別舉辦一場轉型正義特展． 獻上一朵菊花，為過去228事件罹難者弔念，總統府資政葉菊蘭，下午出席228轉型正義活動，談到過去亡夫鄭南榕，不禁紅了眼眶． ==總統府資政 葉菊蘭VS.記者== （剛剛本來要獻花） （你好像有點遲疑） 也不是遲疑啦 就是...(想到什麼是不是) 沒有 哈哈哈 （感觸很多喔） 當然感觸很多 現場還原了當時鄭南榕工作辦公室，當時他從事黨外運動，與友人創辦了自由時代周刊，過去種種彷彿歷歷在目！尤其在特展上，還擺放了當時從事黨外民主運動的抗議旗幟，以及各種史料與照片，讓現任公共電視董事長陳郁秀，也感觸良多． ==公視董事長 陳郁秀== 以前我也常常在街頭運動啊 幾乎都陪伴著他(盧修一) 二二八平反 他幾乎每年都有參與 然後我想他在整個過程當中 他非常能夠理解 這些家屬們的心情 要讓過世的人能夠安息 但是要在世的人 能夠得到平安 總統蔡英文也曾表示，轉型正義一定會持續進行，強調3年內，會完成白色恐怖報告．不過，228事件至今已過了70個年頭，能否還原真相，不少受難家屬感到質疑，也因此，活動現場有民眾感到不滿，認為228紀念活動，早已失焦，做秀成份大於追思意義，希望政府能夠，為２２８事件平反，轉型正義不要淪為空談． 記者 黃立偉 張梓嘉 台北報導
