Protesters Interrupt Taoyuan Mayor's Speech|桃園巿國慶升旗典禮 護藻礁人士到場抗議

A flag-raising ceremony was held in front of Taoyuan City Hall to celebrate the National Day. However, protesters stormed onto the stage while Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan was giving a speech.

A dozen or so protesters stormed onto the stage during the flag-raising ceremony organized by the Taoyuan City Government, chanting "algal reef is dead", who were then surrounded by the police and forced to leave the stage. The protesters said they were protesting the government's plans to build a third liquefied natural gas terminal in Guantang Industrial Park, which could damage or even wipe out nearby algal reefs. In response, Cheng claimed protective measures have been enacted and he has been trying 10 times or even 100 times harder to protect the ecology than these protesters.
