It's really hot. I have to cover up my skin to avoid sunburn.

In order to help the public prepare for the upcoming heat, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) issued high temperature warnings to six cities and counties across Taiwan. The CWB issued orange warnings to New Taipei and Yilan City, and yellow - orange warnings to Taoyuan, Taipei, , Kaohsiung, and Hualien. The CWB has advised the public to avoid sun burn and to stay hydrated. The CWB also said that the temperatures across Taiwan will remain scorching for the upcoming week, and that the public should also beware of possible afternoon thunderstorms.

Pingtung County's Changzhi Township saw unexpected thunderstorm and hail on Sunday afternoon. The frozen rain drops the size of thumbnails hit the metal roof tops and made loud, scary noises.

We had to close the door since the hail was so intense that it damaged part of the roof.

The Central Weather Bureau sent instant messages to residents to four different townships in Pingtung County, including Neipu, Majia and Taiwu Township. However, Changzhi Township did not receive any warning and the unexpected hail and strong wind caused notable damage to local households.

On the other hand, the eastern Taitung County saw a large waterspout hovering above the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

It's the first time to see an actual waterspout. It's beautiful.

According to the Taitung Weather Station, Taiwan is located within a low-pressure area, and that the climate is relatively unstable, which means cumulonimbus clouds and funnels clouds could be easily formed, and therefore lead to waterspouts above the sea. On the other hand, a rainbow appeared in the sky above Tainan City, many local residents stopped in their tracks to capture the moment with their cellphones.
