While several northern cities are on high alert because of Typhoon Maria, a 13 year old boy was lost after falling into water in southern Changhua County. Emergency personnel have been mobilized for the rescue effort.

The rescuer are roaming the river on an inflatable boat and searching for the sight of the lost boy. Another team is searching at the mouth of the river.

The rescuers are trying to cover every inch of the river, including the grassy ford area, in hopes to find the boy. The accident took place on the evening on July 9, Monday, when the 13-year old boy, surnamed Huang, came to play in the Zhuoshui River in Changhua County with his classmates. He fell into the river and was never seen ever since.

There were five, six boys who played in the water. (How did your boy fall into water?) (Did he step in too fast, or was he tripped over?) He slipped into the river.

The rescuers said that the accident took place near the mouth of the river, and that the many undercurrents beneath the surface, as well as the incoming typhoon, has made the rescue more challenging.

The accident took place a bit more than 10 kilometers away from the mouth of the river. The river's surface area is very expansive, while its depth varies at different spots, there are also many undercurrents. We are trying to find spots where we can hold our boats steady and search from there.

Close to thirty rescuers have been searching overnight since the evening of July 9, the teams even mobilized several jet skis to assist the rescue effort. The boy's family members are all waiting for good news.
