There are rumors that Former Tainan Magistrate Su Huan-chih, who is currently running for Taipei's Mayor, will instead, run for Tainan's mayor. Su responded to rumors saying that he is weighing different options and will make a decision by the end of the month.

Former Tainan Magistrate Su Huan-chih has joined the local residents in Tainan in protesting in front of the Construction and Planning Agency. Su had quit the ruling Democratic Progressive Party and announced to run for Taipei City mayor. However, after the DPP nominated Pasuya Yao as their mayoral election candidate, there have been rumors that Su will instead run for mayor in Tainan City. Su himself said that many of his friends have suggested him to run in Tainan, and that he is still weighing his options.

Many local residents have been expecting me to return to Tainan. They said that Tainan's economy has been stagnating in the past seven to eight years and they hope that I can come back to put more emphasis on the local economy.

Huang Wei-cher, the DPP candidate for Tainan Mayor, and opposition KMT Candidate Kao Su-pao have both expressed good will to the latest rumor.

Our total votes might suffer a bit. But I think we will still do our best to prepare our campaign and not worry about any potential changes.

If (Su) really wants to (run for mayor) and serve the people in Tainan, all I can say is I wish him all the best.

The mayoral election is scheduled for November 24. According to the Civil Servants Election And Recall Act, Su must transfer his household registration to Tainan by July 24 in order to be eligible.
