As some students were trying to break into the education ministry, this 17-year-old hacker successfully broke into the presidential office's website. Investigators were more than surprised to find out the mastermind behind the 2000-people hacker website was actually a high school student, while many of the members were only teenagers.
Website members used distributed denial-of-service attacks to attack the websites of several government agencies. They also uploaded videos of the attacks to YouTube for people to see and as a method of recruitment. If you purchase a so-called DDoS attack service, they will attack the websites of government agencies and banks for you, allowing them to enhance their reputation.
On May 28, Investigation Bureau searched the residence of the high school student suspected of running a website that was behind virtual attacks of multiple websites last year and confiscated mobile phones, computers and Bitcoin account information. They also summoned seven accomplices for questioning. The bureau says this is the first case involving illegal transactions paid by Bitcoins. The student surnamed Zhong will be charged with offenses against computer security. His website's members will also be investigated, along with the attack targets.
